Cleaning business bookkeeping: stop losing track between visits
Recurring cleanings, extra work and supply purchases are easier to manage when billing and books follow one routine.
Keep recurring and extra work separate
Record the customer, agreed visit schedule and price. Note deep cleans, window work or other approved extras separately. Update cancellations and skipped visits before invoicing so the paperwork reflects your customer agreement.
Small purchases still need a record
The IRS explains that supporting documents help establish business income and expenses. Save cleaning-supply, equipment and other business receipts rather than relying only on the bank statement. Add a short note if the business purpose is not obvious.
Know what is billed and what is paid
Review invoice status alongside bank deposits. The amount billed is not necessarily cash available to spend. Match payment fees and payouts so your monthly records explain where the money went.
